Just a quick update.
I’m at the Medstar Montgomery Infusion Clinic this morning getting another blood transfusion. My red blood cell count was low and in order to meet the prerequisites of the next clinical trial I need to get that number boosted – ergo the transfusion. They apparently don’t want to take any chances because they are giving me 2 units of blood.
Seeing the blood slowly dripping into my IV I can’t help but think of good ‘ol Count Gore Devol. He was the host on channel 20 when they played horror movies. “Blah, blah, I von’t your blood!” Or at least that’s what I recall him saying.
God willing I’ll be starting the new clinical trial tomorrow. Before that I meet with Dr. Krochmal(pulmonologist) to discuss how the Pleurx Catheter is working. Interested to hear what she has to say given the rapid decrease in fluid output.
Dealing with a moderate amount of pain – more from the left lung than the stomach these days. Managing the pain well using Oxy but on mornings like this I’m having to tough it out so I can drive. I may have to start asking for rides soon but I hate putting people out.
