No Change

I just got back up to the infusion ward after meeting with Dr. Pishvaian. The CT Scan from last week shows no change with any of the tumors. Nothing new, no shrinkage but no growth either. While this may sound some what discouraging there are actually 2 positive ways to view this. One is that my immune system may still be getting ramped up and just hasn’t gotten to the point for there to be any visible change, the other is that the medicine is working to the extent that it has stabilized the tumor growth. Given the aggressive nature of my type of cancer getting it to stabilize and at the same time give me the quality of life that I currently have is extremely good. And of course none of this means that we won’t see some additional changes come January when I have my next CT Scan.

The most significant question that Dr. Pishvaian asked me was, “Has your quality of life been better the 6 weeks you’ve been on this trial than the previous 8 weeks on the Folfox?”
“Oh he… Yes, yes it has!”, was my emphatic response.
