Not Expected

I just returned home from meeting with Dr. Pishvaian. After last Tuesday’s scan results, showing the tumor in my lung had grown, I thought for sure we were going to discuss going back to chemotherapy. The long and short of it is he’s going to keep me on the current immunotherapy study – as long as I’m feeling the same – until the next CT scan. If there is any additional progression then he’ll pull the trigger and put me back on to Folfox. If we wind up going that route his hope is the chemotherapy will have the same positive results it did the first time I was on it. At that point we would look at going on another immunotherapy clinical trial he’s aware of.

The only other thing I need to do now is meet with a pulmonologist to have my lung drained. Dr. P. is going to try and have me see someone before my next infusion but he said pulmonologist’s are hard to get in to see but he’ll do his best.

Not at all what I had expected to hear going into today’s appointment but it certainly is welcome.

Next infusion is May 2nd.
