Thank You

I received a delightful email the other day from someone at MedImmune who is the pharma company that is developing the clinical trial drug I’m currently on. I can imagine that other than the front line clinical trial oncologists and coordinators no one ever hears the results of these trials until long after they are done. I’m so happy that this person found my blog and that I was able to share with them the good news all of their unsung work.

[blockquote align=”center” variation=”mossgreen”]I just came across your blog today via a colleague. I can’t comment openly because of this: I work for MedImmune and have probably been involved in the pre-clinical stages of development of 4736. And I’m a Christian struggling to keep faith. I just wanted to say thank you. Thank you for the reports on how effective your treatment is. Much as I like my job, it can be a slog and I work so far removed from the patient that it can feel like a drag. Thank you for letting me see the result. You remind me what it is I get up for every day. That I do this because at the age of 16, I wanted to set out and cure cancer. That it is more than just cells in a lab. And thank you for sharing your faith. It makes the embers glow.

Whether you’re part of the groundbreaking research team or the chief bottle washer, I’d like to extend my heart felt thanks as well as those of my family and friends. Because of your diligent “slogging” Death is no longer a brooding figure lingering on my doorstep.

What a great example of God using his people to bless the world. You’re blessing many with your blog, and this scientist is blessing many with his/her work! Father Abraham had many sons!
