Monday I had a CT Scan done and today I met with my pulmonologist and oncologist to go over the results. Longer story below but I can tell you they were both happy with the results.
I first saw my lung doc, Dr. Vinayak. I have a minimal amount of fluid in the pleural cavity but that’s probably what was left from when he drained it before. Doing a side beside of the scan from Monday and 2 months ago the difference was astounding.
I then saw Dr. Pishvaian. The nodule in my lung has shrunk and there were no new tumors noted. The one lymph node measured larger but Dr. P. and the radiologist both think it wasn’t measured correctly on the previous scan because the fluid in my left lung hampered their ability to accurately discern the lymph node from my lung. Either way Dr. P. was happy with the direction things are going. Bigger picture is to continue chemo for the next 2 months, have another CT and go from there. If things have gotten better or at least remained the same he’ll take me off one of the chemo drugs and the one I go home with will be changed to a pill form. He also sent some of my last biopsy to have genetically tested to see if there any bio markers that can point us towards any of the newer treatments that have come out. It’s a crap shoot but I’ve been beating the odds for close to 4 years now so…
All in all it’s been a great day. My chemo headed fuzzies finally went away yesterday and today I’ve felt wonderful. Getting these results certainly is icing on the cake.
